Position Overview:
This role as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is integral to the Diagnostic Imaging department.
Vacancy Information:
There is one opening available. Candidates who do not meet the qualifications for GS-10 may be considered for GS-06 to GS-08 levels.
Salary Ranges:
GS-06: $57,215
GS-07: $62,563
GS-08: $69,322
GS-09: $76,741 - $99,763
Key Responsibilities:
The DRT will deliver professional care consistently within their specialized field. Flexibility is essential to accommodate the facility's needs, which may involve both regular and non-standard hours for routine and complex clinical care.
Core Duties:
At the GS-06 level, responsibilities include:
- Understanding basic techniques for minimizing radiographic exposure.
- Coordinating various technical procedures requiring independent judgment to effectively diagnose patients through diverse imaging exams.
- Reviewing anatomy, positioning, and patient safety protocols in General Radiology.
- Demonstrating knowledge of radiographic equipment.
- Evaluating and modifying quality management processes as necessary.
- Understanding VA and national guidelines related to departmental operations, including database security.
At the GS-07 level, the role expands to:
- Assessing the technical quality of digital images and adjusting image quality as needed.
- Coordinating technical procedures that require independent judgment.
- Explaining the contrast materials necessary for specific exams.
- Implementing radiation protection standards and techniques.
- Demonstrating knowledge of computed radiography and PACS.
At the GS-08 level, the DRT will:
- Check imaging systems for operational efficiency and assess performance against established standards.
- Monitor patients for physiological changes during procedures, keeping the radiologist informed.
- Possess skills in patient positioning for various imaging studies.
- Adjust calibration parameters as needed.
At the GS-09 level, the responsibilities include:
- Balancing patient and staff needs while conducting complex imaging procedures.
- Performing basic first aid and life support related to radiography.
- Evaluating and adapting quality management procedures.
At the GS-10 level, the DRT will:
- Implement radiation protection standards and techniques.
- Coordinate complex imaging exams requiring advanced knowledge.
- Maintain accurate records for quality assurance purposes.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 12 PM to 8 PM, including a rotational on-call requirement.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and proficient in English. A full-time training course in diagnostic radiologic technology is required, along with ARRT certification in MRI.
Additional Information:
Selected candidates will undergo a background investigation and may be required to complete an online onboarding process. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory for all health care personnel.
