Application Process:

Wages & Benefits:
  • Hourly wage: $38.91, contingent on relevant law enforcement experience
  • Experience is preferred but not mandatory
  • Paid training academy available, subject to a two-year agreement which includes reimbursement to the City if employment is terminated within two years of completing training
  • Accrued time may be transferred for candidates with previous police experience
  • Contract includes a $1.50 per hour night shift differential
  • Additional benefits: medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage
Qualifications:

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and be at least 21 years old at the time of application. A valid driver's license is required. Candidates are not required to have completed peace officer training prior to appointment.

Examination Requirements:

Candidates must complete the Frontline National examination and submit their scores. A minimum passing score of 70% is required to be ranked on the eligibility list.

Additional Credit Opportunities:

Earn up to 20 additional points for qualifying factors such as prior full-time police experience, current peace officer certification, or military service.

Physical Agility Test Certificates Accepted:

Certificates from recognized police training academies completed within the last year are acceptable. Candidates are responsible for scheduling their physical agility tests.

Final review and certification of the eligibility list will be conducted by the Macedonia Civil Service Commission. Eligible candidates must successfully complete psychological, physical, and polygraph testing, along with a background check and personal interview. Candidates must also be non-smokers throughout their employment.
