Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled InSite Chemist to join our team at Clean Harbors. As a key member of our waste management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling of medical waste on customer sites.
Key Responsibilities- Make waste pickups at labs as needed, ensuring timely and efficient service to our customers.
- Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restrictions notifications, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
- Identify unknown laboratory chemicals, providing critical information for safe handling and disposal.
- Perform regular inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations, preventing potential safety hazards.
- Pack and collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal, maximizing efficiency and maintaining compliance.
- Sampling and profiling of new waste streams or any wastes needing analytical testing, ensuring accurate identification and handling.
- Prepare all necessary tracking paperwork, utilizing CHOICE waste management software for efficient and accurate management.
- Assign proper waste codes to all materials designated for disposal, maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain and manage waste profile data, providing critical information for safe handling and disposal.
- Evaluate specialty waste materials, such as gas cylinders and potentially explosive compounds, determining disposal options.
- Minimum 2 years college or specialized training in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in waste management, preferably in an on-site setting.
- 40 Hour OSHA Training, Forklift Training and certification, Reactive Materials certification, DOT Training, and CleanPack Chemist Training Course.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record, and commercial drivers license-Class 'B/C' with hazardous materials (preferred).
- Excellent organizational, health and safety conscious, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of RCRA requirements, chemicals, and background, Department of Transportation regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waste codes, manifesting, and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR).
- Proficiency in Windows-based applications.
