Physical Therapist Assistant

Job SummaryThe Physical Therapist Assistant works under the general supervision of a licensed physical therapist and is responsible for providing safe, quality clinical care within ThedaCare. This is a part-time position to provide support inpatient/outpatient care for PTO coverage, high census needs, and FMLA coverage. This position will also be a part of a weekend inpatient rotation. Travel to other ThedaCare locations is expected when census and staffing dictates.
Key Responsibilities- Provides evidence-based activities to support patient progression based on the established plan of care.
- Collaborates and effectively communicates with supervising physical therapists regarding patient status, treatment response, goal status, and plan of care.
- Provides patient-centered care and education by working in partnership with caregivers and patients to encourage and empower their active participation in the care plan.
- Performs interventions and utilizes modalities as delineated in the physical therapy plan of care and assesses response to interventions.
- Completes accurate and timely documentation of services in accordance with professional and compliance standards to ensure accurate billing and coding to maximize reimbursement and compliance.
- Demonstrates responsible actions and initiative to positively impact patient access to care, and contributes to the department's financial performance.
- Provides education and mentoring for students, interns, residents, observers, volunteers, and/or new team members to support their development.
- Promotes successful relationships with referral sources and within the community to enhance strategic growth and gain market share.
- Associate's degree from an accredited physical therapist assistant program.
- Licensed to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Wisconsin.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Occasional exposure to sharp objects and instruments.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasional high noise level in work environment.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
- Occasional contact with aggressive and/or combative patients.
- Occasional exposure to heat sources such as hot water for splinting or heat gun.
