We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pipe Layer to join our team at HEI Civil - Texas. As a Pipe Layer, you will play a vital role in preparing and installing underground pipelines, ensuring the safe and efficient installation of sanitary and stormwater sewer structures and pipe systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install sanitary and stormwater sewer structures and pipe systems
- Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with the supervisor
- Cut pipes to required lengths
- Assemble, install, and repair underground pipe fittings and valves of various materials and sizes for storm drains or sanitation sewers, and water mains
- Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction
- Install equipment such as pumps, valves, generators, tanks, motors, shafting, conveyors, and rail systems
- Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing
- Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue
- Measure, cut, and leak test pipes
- Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices
- Cover pipes with earth or other materials
- Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools
- Train others in pipe-laying techniques
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience: Two years of experience (preferred)
- Certifications/Licenses: OSHA 30 preferred, minimum OSHA 10 preferred
The work environment involves an equal balance of indoor and outdoor settings. There may be potential exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for periods exceeding one hour. Workers may experience distracting or uncomfortable noise levels and vibrations affecting the body or extremities. There is a risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts and electricity. Additionally, there's a possibility of exposure to fumes, odors, or other substances that may impact respiration and skin.
