Job Summary:

The Courier I is a critical role at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, responsible for the safe and timely transportation of lab specimens, medical records, medications, and patient-related documentation within the clinic and campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver all specimens, medications, and patient-related materials accurately and within an appropriate time frame.
  • Monitor courier phone and manage shifting priorities to maintain route schedule (if applicable).
  • Maintain courier logs, ensuring entries are legible, accurate, and adhere to standard written procedures.
  • Report and assist with tracking of missing or damaged specimens, medications, and patient-related materials.
  • Assist with training new couriers as needed.
  • Fill in for other routes as needed or other Supply Chain.
  • Assist with storeroom duties during downtime.
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and Fred Hutch policies.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Degree, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Pharmacy Assistant License (must be able to attain a Pharmacy Assistant License within 45 days of hire).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate in person as well as in writing professionally and effectively.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of computerized or automated system operations and record keeping practices.
  • Basic math skills and knowledge of units of measure.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds using proper techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to consistently walk for the majority of an eight-hour shift and/or an average of 10-12 miles per day.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year relevant experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and practice of safe blood borne pathogen handling techniques.
