Job Summary

As a Grocery Department Leader in Excess, you will be responsible for promoting trust and respect among associates and displaying a positive attitude. You will communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates, establish performance goals for the department, and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through collaboration and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead and motivate a team of associates to achieve department goals and objectives.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve associate engagement and retention.
  • Customer Service
    • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Inventory Management
    • Manage inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and stocking merchandise.
    • Develop and implement strategies to reduce inventory shrinkage and improve inventory turnover.
  • Financial Management
    • Manage department budgets, including forecasting, planning, and controlling expenses.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve department profitability and reduce costs.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years of retail management experience, preferably in a grocery or food service environment.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
    • Basic math skills and ability to operate a cash register.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing for long periods, frequent walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with frequent customer interactions and a high level of noise and activity.
