About the Role

The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for scheduling ophthalmic surgeries at the ambulatory surgery center and local hospitals. This role requires a good understanding of ophthalmic practice and insurance coverage, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain surgical schedules for surgeons.
  • Communicate with patients about scheduling, preop testing, insurance requirements, and surgical consents.
  • Contact facilities for scheduling and arrange for preop testing.
  • Schedule preop visits and coordinate paperwork.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and attend required meetings.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience or training in a similar position.

Skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand ophthalmic practice and insurance coverage.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to read data from and enter data into the computer.
  • Ability to write and communicate via phone.
