About the Role
The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for scheduling ophthalmic surgeries at the ambulatory surgery center and local hospitals. This role requires a good understanding of ophthalmic practice and insurance coverage, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain surgical schedules for surgeons.
- Communicate with patients about scheduling, preop testing, insurance requirements, and surgical consents.
- Contact facilities for scheduling and arrange for preop testing.
- Schedule preop visits and coordinate paperwork.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and attend required meetings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience or training in a similar position.
Skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to understand ophthalmic practice and insurance coverage.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Physical Demands
- Ability to read data from and enter data into the computer.
- Ability to write and communicate via phone.
