Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Project Engineer to join our team at Avcon. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for assisting with the design, evaluation, and rehabilitation of highway and pedestrian bridges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and preparation of construction plans, engineering calculations, and reports.
  • Develop project specifications, cost estimates, and provide engineering oversight during construction.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete design elements and prepare project documentation.
  • Evaluate and select standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for project assignments.
  • Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work, working on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of project scopes, tasks, budgets, and schedules.
  • Participate in proposal development, including bid documents, project reports, studies, and other documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of bridge engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of FDOT design standards and AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency with OpenBridge Designer or InfraWorks, desired.
  • Proficiency with MathCAD, preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively in a high-volume office environment under pressure of heavy deadlines.
  • Knowledge of correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting. Site visits may occasionally take place in an outdoor environment.
