Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at Salem Hospital, Inc. as a Senior Medical Lab Scientist. This is a full-time night shift position that requires a strong background in laboratory procedures, including hematology, blood bank, chemistry, and microbiology.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or a related field and be certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent. Three years of experience in high-complexity testing is also required.

This role involves ensuring the efficient operation of all laboratory sections, including phlebotomy and specimen processing. The successful candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the evening/night manager, ensure the smooth operation of all laboratory sections.
  • Perform high-complexity testing and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Develop and implement laboratory procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure the highest level of patient care.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in high-complexity testing.
  • ASCP certification or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
