Job Title: Clinical Support Associate

OU Health is seeking a skilled Clinical Support Associate to join our team in the Adult Float Pool. This role offers a unique opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting, working with multiple skill sets and patient populations.

About the Role:

The Clinical Support Associate will work under the general supervision of a registered nurse, performing routine tasks in patient care. This includes monitoring patients' health status, implementing care plans, and carrying out physician and nursing orders as directed. The ideal candidate will possess basic nursing techniques and procedures knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain effective working relations with others.

Responsibilities:
  1. Systematically and continually monitor patients' health status and implement care plans.
  2. Carry out physician and nursing orders as directed by the RN.
  3. Takes and records vital signs, including blood pressures, temperatures, pulse, and weights.
  4. Performs blood glucose monitoring, monitors IV infusions and transfusions as directed by the RN.
  5. Sets up and discontinues telemetry monitors, collects specimens as directed.
  6. Applies sterile dressings, removal of sutures, staples, and/or drains, performs all sterile procedures as assigned.
  7. Performs stoma irrigation, applies colostomy pouches, oral and tracheostomy suctioning, administers tube feedings to patients.
  8. Takes emergency actions as required, performs all treatments and procedures as defined on initial skills checklist.
  9. Reports symptoms and significant changes in patients' condition or behavior to the RN.
  10. Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer process, transports patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary.
  11. Keeps patients' rooms clean and orderly, makes beds, replaces soiled linen.
Salary and Benefits:

This position offers a competitive salary of $34,000 - $43,000 per year, depending on experience. OU Health also provides a comprehensive benefits package, including PTO, 401(k), medical and dental plans, and many more.

Requirements:
  • Currrently enrolled in an accredited registered nursing program or between terms/semesters.
  • Has completed a program of registered nursing and has applied to the licensure examination.
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
