About the Unit:
The Medical/Surgical unit at Mount Carmel St. Ann's comprises 40 beds. Registered Nurses can expect to care for primarily medical and surgical patients, including some oncology cases. This unit also provides care for adolescent patients aged 13 and older. Med/Surg is an excellent area for professional growth and learning about a wide range of medical diagnoses. It is a dynamic and engaging environment focused on personalized and evidence-based care.

Mount Carmel St. Ann's has long been the sole full-service inpatient hospital in northeast central Ohio. Following a recent expansion, it has evolved into a regional medical center featuring a comprehensive array of patient-centered facilities and services.

About the RN Role:
The Registered Nurse (RN), within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an environment sensitive to each individual's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The Staff RN is responsible for delivering patient care utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients, employing evidence-based practices; assist providers with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments; perform basic medical procedures under provider supervision, including preparation for procedures.
- Administer medications under the provider's direction, adhering to the organization's standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Assist in emergency situations under the provider's guidance.
- Thoroughly educate and explain procedures to patients and their families (diagnosis, disease process, etc.).
- Accurately document pertinent assessments, interventions, and outcomes for patients in compliance with documentation standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegation and supervision of other members of the patient care team.
- Basic computer skills required; prior experience using an EMR for documentation preferred.
