Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Karate Instructor to lead our Karate program at the Meriden New Britain Berlin Young Men's YMCA. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality program instruction, developing and maintaining positive relationships with members and colleagues, and contributing to the overall success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Instruction: Deliver high-quality Karate instruction to members of all ages and skill levels, following YMCA guidelines and developing lesson plans accordingly.
  • Program Development: Develop and grow an established Karate program for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students, including creating and implementing new programs and activities.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain positive relationships with members, colleagues, and volunteers, helping participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Communication: Convey information on programs and schedules, and refer program participants and families to other programs as appropriate.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress reports, and other relevant data.
  • Safety and Emergency Procedures: Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures, and complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Equipment Management: Organize and maintain class equipment, reporting damaged equipment as needed.
  • Supervision and Training: Train and supervise class aides as assigned.
  • Fundraising and Events: Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Customer Service: Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Age Requirements: Minimum age requirements may apply.
  • Certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications are required.
  • YMCA Certifications: Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications is required.
