Radiation Therapist

Are you a skilled professional looking for a challenging role in the healthcare industry? We are seeking a Radiation Therapist to join our team at Intermountain Healthcare. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in the administration of ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes, working closely with Radiation Oncologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Administer ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes in accordance with the prescription of the Radiation Oncologist
- Prepare patients for radiation therapy, including immobilization devices, blocks, and field sizes
- Verify treatment plans and beam energy in the treatment chart, noting any prescribed adjustments
- Document treatment plans, cumulative dose, site-specific doses, treatment parameters, instructions, diagrams, photos, and all billing information
- Perform treatment simulation and cerrobend block fabrication
- Develop x-rays and port films as needed, filing as needed
- Observe and inquire of the patient any unusual reactions or events
- Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit, maintaining appropriate stock levels
- Complete daily, progress, and discharge documentation according to departmental standards
- Accurately document productivity information
- Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives, identifying potential areas for improvement and potential safety hazards
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program
- ARRT and RT(T) certifications in radiation therapy and current license in state of practice
- Current BLS certification
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc). May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
