Overview:

Position Summary:

The Blood Collection Staff will utilize their customer service and healthcare skills to assist in the blood donation process. Responsibilities include collaborating with team members to set up and transport equipment at various collection sites, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for donors, and adhering to safety protocols during the collection of blood donations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with donors to create a personal connection, helping them understand the significance of their contributions.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a friendly and inviting environment for repeat donors.
  • Maintain attention to detail to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols.
  • Operate Red Cross vehicles and assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment at donation events.

Work Schedule:

  • Staff will work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate donor needs.
  • Work schedules will be communicated two to three weeks in advance.

Compensation:

  • Starting pay is $16.00 per hour.
  • This position is covered by a union contract.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in customer service and strong verbal communication skills are essential.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift and maneuver heavy items, as well as the capacity to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in healthcare or phlebotomy (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Leadership experience is a plus.
