Aircraft Mechanic III Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic III to join our team at Kay and Associates, Inc. in Key West, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance.
  • Processes technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported.
  • Capable of performing, supervising, and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs, and IIIs.
  • Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
  • Provides technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike.
  • Ensures adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs.
  • Lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives.
  • Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required.
  • May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.

Requirements:

  • Eight years aviation maintenance experience.
  • Individual (I) Aircraft Maintenance Qualification.
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shift schedules as required.
  • Must be able to work flexible work-week schedules.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquiries (ANACI) resulting in eligibility for a SECRET clearance.
  • Basic Corrosion Control Course.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and work on top of and below the aircraft.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools.
  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
  • Must be able to deploy to support off-station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.
  • Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Attended H-60 initial and career system course.
  • Ten or more years' H-60 rotary wing experience.
  • Ten or more years' experience with NALCOMIS/OOMA.
  • Ten years' extensive knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP).
  • Naval Aviation Maintenance Control Management for Optimized Organization Maintenance Activity course (C or if previously completed, both the Naval Aviation Maintenance Control Management course (Course D/E and the Naval Aviation Officer and Senior Supervisor NALCOMIS OOMA Familiarization course (Course D/E
  • Advanced Corrosion Control Course/Paint and Final Finish.
  • Automated Track and Balancing System (ATABS) Course (NATEC provides).
  • Previously certified H-60 Full System QAR.
  • Previously H-60 Safe for Flight (SFF) qualified.
  • Previously certified as one or more H-60 Collateral Duty Inspectors (CDI) (Airframes, Powerplants, Electrician, and/or Avionics).
  • Previously certified H-60 Plane Captain.
  • Previously certified H-60 LSE.

Compensation:

$45.76/hour.

Other Compensation:

Employees who opt out of medical, dental, and vision coverages or take employee-only medical coverage shall receive $11.00 per compensated hour up to a cap of forty (40) hours per week.

Benefits:

Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in KAI's 401k plan. Employees accrue 90 hours PTO annually. Employees at the SAR Key West, FL receive 12 paid holidays.
