Stationary Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Stationary Engineer to join our Plant Operations team at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for the daily operation of our Boiler and HVAC Plant, ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of steam and chilled water to our hospital facilities.

• Operate and Maintain Equipment: Operate, maintain, and adjust boilers, furnaces, engines, pumps, heat exchangers, generators, motors, and associated equipment in public buildings, municipal pumping stations, and incinerators.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform periodic inspections of equipment and minor repairs to such equipment, ensuring optimal performance and extending the lifespan of our facilities' systems.
• Watch Operations: Take responsible charge of a watch, directing subordinate personnel and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities' systems.
• Record Keeping: Read and log meters, gauges, and other recording devices, maintaining accurate records and making reports as required.
• Training and Development: Instruct and train subordinates and other personnel, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement within our facilities team.

• Licensure: Licensed by the NYC Department of Buildings as a Stationary Engineer.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a hospital engineering/power plant operations environment.
• Skills: Ability to read blueprints, current knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care, including ASHRAE and ASHE.
• Technical Skills: PC proficiency in Excel, Word, and working knowledge of engineering apps required.
