Job Summary:
Puffer-Sweiven is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for assembling, repairing, and fabricating parts using mechanical equipment. You will work with blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble parts into sub-units or complete units.
  • Install repaired parts into equipment and operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
  • Operate metalworking machine tools, such as conventional lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to machine parts to specifications.
  • Use blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.
  • Cut raw material on a horizontal bandsaw as needed.
  • Debur production and finished parts.
  • Maintain and secure work tools.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  • Perform backup duties for the assembly shop and warehouse.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new employees as required.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a machinist role.
  • Ability to operate manual machines, such as lathes, drill presses, and knee mills, to their full capability without direct involvement from a supervisor or other machinists.
  • Ability to handle and read job/machine-specific measuring tools to inspect and maintain the quality of work.
  • Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and instruments.
  • Ability to read technical/CAD drawings and manufacture parts consistent with the information provided.
  • Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Ability to communicate, verbal and written, effectively.
  • Ability to use computer applications, barcode scanners, adding machines, and telephones.
