Job Summary
As a key member of the Atrium Health team, the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist will oversee the development and coordination of therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of patients and achieve optimal health outcomes. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to assess patient needs and develop effective programming.
Essential Functions
- Plan, organize, and implement therapeutic recreation interventions to promote patient well-being and quality of life.
- Establish yearly goals and objectives to guide the allocation of time, personnel, and resources.
- Ensure a safe and supportive physical environment, equipment, and supplies are available for patients.
- Document patient participation in sessions and provide effective clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement recreational therapy interventions.
- Stay up-to-date with state, federal, and facility requirements regarding clinical documentation.
Physical Requirements
This role requires frequent movement between areas, coordination with team members, and the ability to give audible verbal instructions. The ability to carry a load of 10 pounds independently to treatment areas is also necessary.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
A Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation and possession of National Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and NC Recreational Therapy License (LRT) are required. Excellent oral and written communication and leadership skills are essential for success in this role.
