The Registered Nurse - Occupational Health will work autonomously within the scope of professional standards, the rules and regulations established by the TN Board of Nursing, and knowledge of policies and procedures within Ballad Health and those specific to the worksite.
Key Responsibilities- Provide onsite emergency care to employees within the guidelines of written medical orders and protocols.
- Triage and provide onsite initial treatment for work-related injury and illness, and assess if outside medical care is needed.
- Adhere to OSHA mandated procedures and guidelines, and maintain the accuracy of OSHA record keeping.
- Manage company required surveillances, including hearing conservation/medical surveillance evaluations.
- Identify and evaluate behaviors exemplified by company employees that would require reasonable suspicion/cause for drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Provide individual counseling, goal setting to employees on health maintenance, results of health screenings, and health promotion activities and chronic disease management.
- Assist in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of occupational health and health promotion programs for client companies in cooperation with the company and Ballad Health.
- Perform drug and alcohol screenings per company protocols.
- Act as a gatekeeper for health services, rehab, return to work, and case management issues.
- Collaborate with onsite members of the company's occupational health team, including occupational medical physician, industrial hygienist, safety engineers, management, and union representatives.
- Maintain medical supplies and equipment, monitor, manage, and calibrate equipment as required by the industry.
- Associate degree from an accredited nursing program, bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience as an RN preferred.
- Valid and active RN licensure in appropriate state.
- CPR required.
- Certified in DOT urine drug and breath alcohol collections.
- Certification if applicable of onsite services for Audiogram testing-CAOHC, and if applicable NIOSH certified in Spirometry testing.
