Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong work ethic and attention to detail. As a Warehouse Production Associate at Schnitzer Steel, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our production facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including forklifts and skid steers, to move materials and products around the facility.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and extend lifespan.
  • Remove non-metallic material, metal, and debris from our metal shredder or joint products picking belts.
  • Maintain parts of the shredder and/or joint products machinery, including bearing replacement and belt repair.
  • Perform general yard clean up and maintenance, including handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a production or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours a day and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced production environment with exposure to all weather conditions. Physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt are present due to the equipment, machinery, and scrap as would be found throughout the scrap yard. Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment as needed, must be worn to eliminate the risks associated with these hazards.
