Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our team at the San Antonio River Authority. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for supervising, planning, and conducting all phases of water and wastewater engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage departmental initiatives and oversee the execution of identified municipal water and wastewater improvement projects.
- Assist department management in strategic planning and the development of programs and initiatives.
- Plan, direct, and complete concurrent, complex design and construction projects.
- Apply both conventional and emerging engineering practices and techniques to work that may include a variety of complex features.
- Direct staff and contractors on construction activities that are outside of the standard specifications.
- Review, inspect, and/or coordinate construction contract document enforcement.
- Prepare and professionally seal detailed construction plans and technical specifications, reports, and studies.
- Assist with departmental management activities, including interviewing and hiring new employees, performance management, and budget preparation.
- Provide direct staff supervision as assigned.
- Collaborate with and coordinate the work of consultants.
- Review, comment on, and develop department policy and equipment needs.
- Participate in departmental and organizational committees.
- Prepare estimates, monitor complex and/or multiple project budgets, and make recommendations concerning budgetary status and/or adjustment.
- Analyze engineering data, develop effective solutions, and prepare technical reports.
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, or a related discipline, and six (6) years of progressively responsible engineering experience in all phases of engineering.
- Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas or the ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices as applied to planning, designing, modeling, construction, and maintenance of various facilities.
- Knowledge of the application of data processing as it applies to the development of engineering data.
- Knowledge of wastewater collection and treatment systems, project management, and personnel management.
- Skills and abilities in oral and written communication, organization and time management, problem solving and decision making, and delegating and coordinating the work of others.
The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional exposure to outdoor environments and construction sites.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
