Workers Compensation Assistant

Job Summary:

Essentia Health seeks a skilled Workers Compensation Assistant to provide efficient and effective support to our team. As a Workers Compensation Assistant, you will serve as a liaison between physicians, workers' compensation insurers, employers, and patients, providing clarification of care plans, return to work instructions, and related workers' compensation issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate requests for medical legal letters, maintaining tracking information in a database, preparing information for the provider and department manager, and responding to attorney inquiries regarding the status of requests.
  • Accurately and efficiently bill insurers and attorneys for services provided.
  • Provide support to the managing attorney and paralegal with tasks such as maintenance of files, mailing documents, and obtaining notarization as directed.
  • Assist in providing support to the department by ordering office supplies and tracking expenses.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of office experience and working with medical records.
  • Qualifying experience includes, but is not limited to, record analysis, experience with workers' compensation documents and filing procedures, and EMR processing.
  • Experience working with Minnesota Workers Compensation is preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC, Outlook, Excel, and Teams is also preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Long-term interest in the risk, legal, workers' compensation, or related field.
