Position Overview:
The Junior Technical Specialist plays a vital role in the maintenance, service, calibration, and commissioning of testing systems, supporting both end-of-line and research and development testing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic and repair activities for a variety of testing systems to facilitate validation processes at customer locations.
- Install equipment, execute testing procedures, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, and determine the nature of malfunctions for effective repairs.
- Replace components such as electric motors, pumps, belts, and wiring, ensuring the functionality of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Disassemble and inspect component parts; repair, reassemble, and test valves and pumps as necessary.
- Create special assembly and testing fixtures; manufacture unique replacement parts and fixtures.
- Manage equipment installation, including wiring electric power, setting up hydraulic lines, and connecting air lines.
- Regularly verify the functionality of safety devices on equipment.
- Document issues, solutions, and repair actions taken.
- Report any unusual equipment or operational issues to management promptly.
Tools and Environment:
Utilize a range of machine tools and testing equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, saws, drill presses, electrical meters, and precision inspection tools, while maintaining a safe and organized workspace in compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
- 4 to 6+ years of relevant experience or trade training in complex machinery maintenance (including internships and co-op experiences).
- Proficient understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical components.
- Familiarity with machine operations, equipment, and testing systems, along with repair methodologies for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
- Basic electrical wiring and troubleshooting knowledge.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, along with a keen attention to detail.
Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel up to 75% based on project needs.
