F.H. Paschen is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in supporting management, operations, and estimating staff in reviewing project plans, requirements, and specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Generate budgets, estimates, and proposals with a deep understanding of constructability, means and methods, logistics, schedule, risk, and profitability.
- Supervise Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and Construction Interns assigned to contracts and/or work orders.
- Create work proposals and review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required estimate contents.
- Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures and review design options to recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, and other relevant sources into unit and man-hour figures.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bids/projects.
- Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures and interact with owners, architects/engineers, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.
- Negotiate financial disputes and change orders with owners and serve as the administrative point of contact for the owner.
- Understand details of project scope of work, create and maintain project cost reports, and document and negotiate changes that may affect project completion or contract costs with subcontractors and owners.
- Develop field quality assurance and quality control plans with Superintendents and collaborate on project safety plans.
- Manage MBE/WBE subcontracting requirements and EEO/Affirmative action contract requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of estimating, cost control, project management, and/or engineering experience in a construction environment.
- Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
