As a vital member of our Integrated Behavioral Health team, you will deliver direct psychiatric services, comprehensive evaluations, and psychopharmacological treatments to our patients. The Psychiatrist collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary clinical practice team to ensure optimal patient care. Our outpatient practice operates on weekdays, promoting an excellent work/life balance, and our HRSA Mental score of 23, the highest in Rhode Island, offers substantial opportunities for loan repayment.
Key Responsibilities of the Psychiatrist:
Deliver direct psychiatric care, conduct evaluations, and manage psychopharmacological treatments for Health Center patients. Additionally, provide psychiatric consultations to medical professionals, mental health clinicians, case managers, and other designated staff. The Psychiatrist will actively engage in coordinating patient care, supporting patients and families in self-management through evidence-based strategies, and participating in health center initiatives tailored to specific patient populations. Effective communication strategies, including health literacy approaches, will be employed when interacting with patients.
Core Duties Include:
- Deliver onsite psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and medication management for patients.
- Provide psychiatric consultation and support for the health center's medical staff, including nurses and mid-level providers.
- Collaborate with Psychotherapists regarding mental health issues of patients through documentation and communication.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the department, focusing on peer review and procedural enhancements.
- Ensure timely completion of all required documentation, including electronic health records and compliance with departmental, company, state, and federal regulations.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bicultural (Spanish) skills and bilingual experience are highly valued.
- Dedication to the mission of Providence Community Health Centers.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships with healthcare teams and management.
Education and Licensure Requirements:
- Board Certified or eligible in Psychiatry.
- Possession of an active, unrestricted medical license to practice in Rhode Island.
