Position Title: Estimator – Security Clearance Required
Position Overview: The Estimator will be responsible for developing precise cost estimates for a range of projects as specified by client documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze construction documents to comprehend the scope of work for bidding.
- Lead the estimating process and generate accurate estimates.
- Source pricing for materials and services.
- Review estimates and revisions for thoroughness and precision.
- Notify supervisors of any discrepancies or omissions in estimates or databases.
- Prepare estimates and proposals for both plan/spec and design/build projects, including detailed HVAC ductwork and hydronic piping takeoffs.
- Utilize and maintain the company’s computerized estimating system.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and conduct site inspections to assess conditions impacting pricing and installation.
- Communicate project specifics to the installation team during turnover meetings.
- Prepare estimates for change orders on ongoing projects as needed.
- Employ Quick-pen, TSI, and Revit software for takeoffs on HVAC/Mechanical system drawings.
- Manage project setup and maintenance for BIM/design/estimating.
- Download necessary files from FTP sites for estimating and project management.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and team members to develop and review estimates.
- Maintain current knowledge of procedural and technological advancements in estimating software and hardware.
- Conduct field evaluations when necessary.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical specifications, construction plans, and contract requirements.
- Comprehensive understanding of HVAC/Mechanical construction systems.
- Proficient in MS Office, Quick-pen, AutoCAD, REVIT, and FTP Sites, or willing to learn.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
- Organized with effective task prioritization skills.
- Willingness to travel to local job sites as required.
