Principal Certification Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Certification Engineer to join our team in Shakopee, MN. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that new product designs align with related product safety standards and meet company objectives for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Work with multi-functional teams to create new products to meet global hazardous location approval requirements
- Interpret product safety standards and apply the requirements to new and existing product designs
- Build technical justification and prepare technical documents to demonstrate compliance and support product certification
- Create test plans in accordance with global standards and procedures
- Conduct tests in product certification lab
- Interact directly with third party certification agencies
- Maintain certifications, procedures, and provide support for manufacturing, design, product management, and other functions as needed
- Participate in audits as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an engineering school
- Eight (8) years of related experience
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment, including setting up, troubleshooting, and completing required tests
Preferred Qualifications:
- ABET-accredited degree
- Interest in industry standards and how they influence product design and development
- Experience with Flameproof/Explosion-Proof Approvals
- Knowledge of product safety standards (FM, CSA, ATEX, IECEx)
