Senior Java Software Engineer

The team is onsite 2x per week for this role. As a Java developer, you will rotate pairs every day and, less frequently, to entirely new projects. Every day is completely different from the next.

Our day starts with an office-wide stand-up to build office cohesion and start the day off together. We then have a team standup to discuss any blockers, choose pairs, and maybe even tell a joke.

From 8:26 AM to 12:00 PM, you will start pairing and tackle an open Pivotal Tracker story for your product. We take ample breaks throughout the day, including ping-pong, and have access to snacks and beverages.

Sustainable pace is held in high regard. We know there is a life outside of work, and we want you to be able to spend time with family and friends.

We are looking for someone with the ability to dive into a large polyglot codebase and contribute as they learn. They should be okay with the uncomfortable feeling that comes from learning new things and have interest in exploring new programming paradigms, languages, and patterns.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable ability to research problems and break them into discrete parts. They should have empathy with their pair and freely exchange feedback on a continual basis.

We require a BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field. The candidate should be comfortable with Test Driven Development (TDD) and have worked in a pair programming environment.

Experience with log analysis, streaming data, streaming metrics, and metric analysis and visualization is a plus. Has mentored others in a professional setting and worked with large Java codebases is also desirable.

We use Spring / Sprint Boot, JavaScript library familiarity (Vue preferred), Pivotal Cloud Foundry, IntelliJ, and GitHub. The candidate should be proficient in Generic Java and Java.
