Overview:
As a Heavy Equipment Technician at Bethel Farms LLLP, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a variety of agricultural machinery and vehicles. Your expertise will ensure that our operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reassemble machinery and equipment post-repair, conducting operational tests and necessary adjustments.
- Replace or repair faulty components using a range of tools including hand tools, lathes, and welding equipment.
- Conduct tests and replace electrical parts and wiring with precision.
- Transport tools and equipment to job sites for on-site repairs of large machinery.
- Fabricate new metal components utilizing drill presses and other machine tools.
- Document repair details, parts utilized, and labor hours accurately.
- Repair damaged sheet metal and maintain cleanliness and lubrication of parts.
- Dismantle defective machinery for repair using appropriate hand tools.
- Diagnose malfunctions by examining equipment, reviewing inspection reports, and consulting with operators.
- Perform repairs on agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems.
- Overhaul and maintain farm machinery and vehicles, including tractors and harvesters.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Understanding of agricultural equipment safety protocols.
- Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of agricultural machinery.
- Awareness of workplace safety standards and procedures.
- Proficient in record-keeping systems and equipment cleaning standards.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment to identify faults and malfunctions.
- Competence in determining the extent of repairs needed.
- Skill in adjusting equipment and replacing defective parts.
- Capability to test repaired equipment for optimal performance.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in maintaining daily records and documentation.
Physical Demands:
This role requires regular sitting, walking, and the use of hands for handling tools and equipment. The technician must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds and may need to stand for extended periods.
Equipment Utilized:
Farm vehicles, hand tools, drills, grinders, and other specialized machinery.
Working Conditions:
The position involves both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to various environmental factors. Technicians may encounter dampness, humidity, and fumes from machinery.
Travel Requirements:

Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic, specifically with agricultural equipment.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
