About the Role:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving the daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment. This position is responsible for leading the integration of new products within production, ensuring timely delivery, meeting production goals, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional and cross-site teams to evaluate, troubleshoot, and implement manufacturing processes within the business unit. Key responsibilities include:

  • Working cooperatively with R&D, Process Development, Quality, Production, Regulatory, Equipment Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.
  • Generating innovative solutions to complex problems of diverse scope to meet department goals.
  • Completing complex engineering work and contributing to new product development teams and product support, including technology development, test of materials or products, preparation of specifications, Six Sigma, process study, process improvements, and report preparation.
  • Selecting process improvement techniques to solve technical problems and making sound equipment and process recommendations.
  • Designing and coordinating applicable engineering tests and experiments.
  • Summarizing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from complex test results.
  • Designing and preparing engineering reports and communicating results to technical and leadership audiences.
  • Coordinating, managing, and documenting project goals and progress and recommending appropriate revisions.
  • Assessing the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment.
  • Completing and managing Capital Equipment Request Authorizations (CERAs).
  • Leading cross-functional project teams.
  • Identifying, implementing, and managing Business Unit goals and actively contributing to the development of the Business Unit's multi-year strategy.
  • Training team members, including engineers, technicians, and product builders on specific tasks.
  • Participating in the development of junior staff by setting an example, providing guidance, and offering counsel.

In all actions, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of manufacturing, process, or related engineering experience
  • Experience solving advanced technical problems
  • Experience qualifying complex equipment
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong bias for action and ability to effectively prioritize work and deliver business results in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Experience in manufacturing problem-solving and process improvement tools such as DMAIC and production flow tools such as LEAN manufacturing
  • Experience with Minitab or other data analysis, statistical, and process improvement tools
  • Ability to travel up to 5%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing technologies such as shape forming metals & plastics, laser welding, ultrasonic welding, adhesives, injection molding, laser marking, inkjet printing, laser cutting, pad printing, and sterile barrier sealing
  • Basic knowledge of automation, PLC programming (Allen-Bradley), and machine vision systems (Cognex & Keyence)
  • Basic knowledge of 3D modeling software such as Solidworks
  • Basic knowledge or business intelligence software such as PowerBI and Tableau
  • Experience working in PTC Windchill Product Lifecycle Management software or comparable platform
  • Demonstrated effective communication with multiple stakeholders at different levels within the organization and with suppliers and equipment vendors
  • Continuous improvement mindset
