ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee students during lunch periods and recreational activities.
  • Provide assistance as required throughout the school premises.
  • Deliver outstanding service to all stakeholders.
  • Support front office operations and manage incoming calls.
  • Assist children in safely crossing streets at designated times and locations.
  • Ensure the safe passage of all pedestrians, including non-students, in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Engage positively with children, staff, and community members.
  • Manage the placement and removal of speed limit signs and report maintenance needs as necessary.
  • Learn and adhere to state laws and established protocols regarding school crossing operations.
  • Ensure the safety of children at all times while on duty.
  • Report any safety violations involving students.
  • Document license plate numbers of vehicles violating safety regulations.
  • Monitor and report violations of state laws pertaining to school zones.
  • Maintain awareness of pedestrian, vehicular, and other traffic from all directions.
  • Care for district-provided equipment.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, staff, community members, and vendors.
  • Uphold a high standard of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred experience working with school-aged children.

LICENSING:

  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Standard practices, methods, and materials relevant to the role.
  • Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles.
  • Uses and characteristics of supplies and equipment.
  • Customer service principles.
  • Specialized equipment pertinent to the assignment.
  • Modern office technology.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this category require physical activities such as pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 17 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Regularly required to hold a stop paddle at or above shoulder level while directing pedestrians.

Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to noise and the necessity of being on your feet. Must maintain awareness of pedestrian, vehicular, and other traffic in all directions. Duties may require standing in inclement weather, including high temperatures.
