We invite you to join our team of highly skilled professionals at The Ohio State University as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This exciting opportunity will allow you to utilize your expertise in designing, modifying, and managing projects that support effective equipment operations and efficient utilities usage.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Professional Engineer license. Additionally, they should have at least five years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection design, preferably in a hospital setting. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to create and maintain strong team collaboration.

In this role, you will operate with a high level of autonomy, serving as an engineering planner/project coordinator utilizing both internal and external consultants and resources. You will manage the administrative functions of staff assigned to your projects, including managing consulting engineers and leading internal staff.

Mentorship and development of FOD Operations staff are also key responsibilities, supporting the department's goals and mission. You will communicate across the health system, university administration, and other university facilities departments.

We offer a competitive salary of $93,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is located in Columbus, Ohio, and requires occasional travel to various locations within the Wexner Medical Center. A valid driver's license is required, and you must live within sixty miles of the Wexner Medical Center's main campus.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Design, modify, and manage projects that support effective equipment operations and efficient utilities usage.
  • Utilize expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection design to develop scope, specifications, and drawings for projects.
  • Perform engineering quality assurance reviews of large-scale and highly complex construction and renovation projects.
  • Identify short- and long-term capital needs of HVAC, controls, and mechanical systems.
  • Develop budget estimates and provide technical direction through project completion.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • At least five years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection design, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to create and maintain strong team collaboration.
