ROLE SUMMARY:
Under the direct oversight of the Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) delivers comprehensive nursing care in compliance with the applicable nursing regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adheres to the defined scope of practice and services as per state nursing regulations.
- Exhibits understanding of individual patient histories, progress, and treatment objectives.
- Demonstrates proficiency in making informed nursing judgments during patient assessments.
- Ensures adherence to established medication protocols and procedures.
- Effectively operates and resolves issues with commonly used medical equipment.
- Completes all necessary documentation promptly.
- Processes telephone orders from mid-level practitioners and physicians according to established guidelines.
- Reassesses patients in line with established protocols to monitor progress and identify necessary interventions.
- Possesses the ability to perform basic pharmacological calculations.
- Participates in clinical rounds as appropriate.
- Accepts patient assignments as directed by the Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager.
- Coordinates care with ancillary clinical departments to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Supervises care provided by CNAs and LVNs.
- Documents patient weights as required.
- Enhances professional development through participation in seminars and educational opportunities.
- Actively seeks opportunities for career advancement.
- Contributes to the orientation of new staff members.
- Recognizes changes in patient conditions and implements appropriate interventions.
- Articulates the Registered Nurse's role in emergency situations and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the relevant state.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years of full-time experience working with adolescents in a clinical or residential environment.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the relevant state.
- Certification in BLS/CPR.
- Certification in Behavioral Intervention (SAMA) within the first month of employment.
- Must obtain a current tuberculosis test within the first two weeks of employment and annually thereafter.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands and work environment typically required for this position include:
- Frequent standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting to assist patients.
- Regular use of arm, leg, and back muscles for extended periods.
- Interaction with equipment and movable parts.
- Occasional work with hands in water and near chemicals.
- Ability to manage stress from residents, multiple tasks, and interruptions while maintaining a positive demeanor.
