POSITION SUMMARY
The Culinary Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the preparation of meals that adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety. This position is responsible for overseeing food preparation in compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies. The Culinary Supervisor collaborates closely with the Director of Nutrition Services to ensure exceptional food service delivery at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize established recipes to prepare a variety of dishes, including entrees, vegetables, salads, and desserts.
- Engage in daily communication with the Director of Nutrition Services to strategize on production goals and quality maintenance.
- Assist in maintaining precise daily production logs and records.
- Operate cash register or point-of-sale systems during service periods as required.
- Accurately track and report food quantities used, produced, and leftover, as well as meal counts.
- Ensure compliance with portion control regulations set by local and state authorities.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area throughout the day, adhering to sanitation standards.
- Assist in the proper labeling, dating, and rotation of food products in storage areas.
- Support the organization of dry goods and refrigerated items to ensure efficient inventory management.
- Participate in food preparation for special events as needed.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as directed by the Nutrition Services Director or Executive Chef.
- Contribute to the cross-training of team members as required.
- Follow all safety and sanitation protocols established by regulatory agencies.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment, demonstrating the ability to perform tasks safely.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
- Exhibit consistent and reliable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in Basic English to fulfill job requirements.
- Proficient in basic arithmetic and capable of handling cash transactions.
- Demonstrated understanding of food safety and preparation standards.
- Possession of a Food Handler's Permit and Serve Safe Certification is required.
- Self-motivated with the ability to adhere to established policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods, typically 8 to 10 hours a day.
- Capable of using standard office equipment, including telephones and computers.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Frequent physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds and navigating uneven surfaces.
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity are essential for performing job functions.
