Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced part-time lecturer to teach Spanish language courses at Sonoma State University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Spanish language and culture, as well as excellent teaching and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Spanish language courses at all levels, including lower division language and/or culture courses, and/or upper division courses in composition, culture, linguistics, or literature.
  • Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse student populations.
  • Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Spanish or a related field required; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience teaching Spanish language courses at the college level.
  • Strong background in Spanish language and culture.
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching heritage learners.
  • Knowledge of Canvas course management system.
  • Ability to provide weekly student hours to support student learning.
