Vascular Access Specialist Job Description

This Vascular Access Specialist position is responsible for assessing patient's vascular needs, administering vascular access procedures, and planning care using current scientific knowledge and national patient safety goals.

About the Position
  1. Evaluates line appropriateness, monitors infusion-related outcomes, and line necessity.
  2. Provides education to clinical nurses, members of the healthcare team, patients, and families on vascular access best practices.
  3. Serves as a resource for both in-house and community teams on vascular access procedures and protocols.
Qualifications

Education / Accreditation / Licensure: Asoociates in Nursing required. Experience: 3-5 years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility with demonstrated knowledge and experience of concepts of intravenous therapy including optimal vein use, vein preservation, and difficult access placement. Use of ultrasound technology for vein identification and line placement preferred. Experience with assessment for and placement of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) preferred. Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year.
