Job Description

As a Nurse Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver age/developmentally appropriate care, adhering to nursing standards and best practices. Your duties will include:
  1. Providing patient-centered care, focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  2. Developing and implementing nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, and intervention plans.
  3. Coordinating care, health teaching, and promotion, consistent with MUSC policies.
  4. Maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment through patient privacy and respectful behavior.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have a Bachelor of Nursing degree and at least one year of experience as a registered nurse. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is also necessary. Additionally, you should be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of your RN hire or reclassification date.
