Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at SSM Health-St. Joseph Hospital-Lake St. Louis. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for evaluating and caring for respiratory therapy patients, administering prescribed respiratory therapeutic services, and implementing and monitoring patient care plans.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans and equipment, and monitor, record, and communicate patient condition.
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • Assist with care, calibration, and maintenance of all equipment, and participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and rapid responses, and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent years of experience and education.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner registration from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), Missouri Division of Professional Registration, Oklahoma Medical Board, or Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Work Environment

This is a PRN position on the night shift at SSM Health-St. Joseph Hospital-Lake St. Louis. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
