Position Overview:
The Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care and support to patients and their families. This role involves guiding licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistive personnel, ensuring that nursing care is delegated in accordance with legal and regulatory standards as well as organizational policies. The Staff Nurse acts as the primary caregiver, serving as a resource for nursing staff and fulfilling preceptor and charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates professional nursing practices while delegating tasks to nursing assistive personnel and providing guidance to LPNs as appropriate.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Not applicable.
  • Education: Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required upon hire, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Proven competencies in adaptability, change management, decision-making, attention to detail, customer service, interpersonal communication, prioritization, problem-solving, quality management, results orientation, systems thinking, teamwork, time management, and written communication.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a specialty area or completion of a formal course in the specialty within a designated timeframe after hiring.
  • Specialty areas may include: Operating Room, Emergency Department, Telemetry, Intensive Care Units, Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Cardiology, Ambulatory Treatment, Diagnostic Imaging, and Oncology.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
  • One (1) year of experience or completion of a formal course in a specialty area.
  • Coursework in basic EKG.
