Position Overview

Asset Reliability Specialists are dedicated to establishing and maintaining programs and systems that transition the maintenance and operation of the facility towards a more proactive, data-informed, and condition-based asset management methodology. A well-rounded skill set is encouraged, combining robust technical knowledge of equipment to enhance individual asset performance with advanced statistical analysis of CMMS and equipment performance data to prioritize initiatives. Asset Reliability Specialists are expected to serve as "Change Agents" within their assigned units, supported by the Corporate Reliability and Maintenance Excellence Leader.

Reports to the Corporate Reliability and Maintenance Excellence Leader. Collaborates with North America Plant Managers and Engineering teams to deliver technical assistance to Production and Maintenance staff, lead or engage in Root Cause Failure Analyses, and monitor KPI data for the early detection and resolution of reliability challenges.
  • Conduct failure mode and effects analysis to create suitable equipment maintenance strategies, including equipment inspections and Preventive & Predictive Maintenance (PPM) plans.
  • Evaluate PPM effectiveness at appropriate intervals.
  • Enhance the capabilities of mechanics in their roles concerning reliability improvements.
  • Establish trigger points for Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective and enhancement strategies resulting from RCFAs.
  • Perform and document equipment criticality assessments.
  • Analyze data (failure, cost) utilizing relevant reliability analysis tools to develop and execute improvement strategies.
  • Lead reliability enhancement teams and conduct or arrange for physical failure assessments.
  • Collaborate with plant engineering, procurement, and inventory teams to develop and implement Design for Reliability principles for capital projects.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Quality Assurance practices.
  • Work with the inspection team to ensure appropriate inspection technologies are utilized and assess the quality of inspection plans.
  • Review inspection documentation and analyze data to determine serviceability, inspection quality, and appropriate inspection intervals.
  • Employ Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies to identify suitable inspection strategies and timelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with 5-10 years of relevant experience in the chemical sector.
  • Familiarity with mechanical equipment design and a comprehensive understanding of maintenance and reliability practices associated with process equipment such as centrifugal pumps, piping systems, pressure vessels (including heat exchangers), atmospheric storage tanks, positive displacement pumps, relief devices, and various compressor designs.
  • Knowledge of API, ASME, and ISO standards for fixed and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to draft mechanical design packages for highly hazardous chemical processes.
  • Basic understanding of reliability tools and techniques, including:
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
  • Predictive techniques for fixed, rotating, power distribution equipment, and instrumentation (e.g., vibration analysis, nondestructive testing, thermography)
  • Fixed equipment diagnostic technologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and standard software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated team-building and negotiation skills.
Additional Information
