We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic I to join our team at Walters Recycling and Refuse, Inc. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our waste collection vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform Preventive Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain our fleet of diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) powered vehicles and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and Repair Issues: Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other equipment, using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Meet Productivity Goals: Meet or exceed productivity and schedule compliance goals, ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks and minimizing downtime.
- Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with other maintenance team members, drivers, and supervisors to ensure seamless communication and coordination of maintenance activities.
- Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Developments: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with the latest technologies, techniques, and industry best practices.
- 2-Year Degree and 2+ Years of Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy-duty truck repair, or a 2-year degree in a related field and 2+ years of experience in a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in air brake systems, engine diagnostics, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and general repairs, as well as experience with computer diagnostic equipment and procedures.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in a fast-paced environment, and meet the physical demands of the job, including exposure to chemicals, dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes.
