POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a committed and imaginative educator to fill the role of Art Teacher for our Middle and Upper School programs. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in instructing various art forms, including drawing, painting, design, and AP/Honors 2D Art. This position requires a dynamic individual who can inspire students and cultivate their artistic talents across multiple disciplines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and execute a comprehensive art curriculum tailored for Middle and Upper School students, encompassing drawing, painting, design, and AP/Honors 2D Art.
- Encourage artistic development and a love for visual arts while nurturing students' emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.
- Plan and conduct engaging art classes that accommodate a range of skill levels and interests, from beginners to advanced learners.
- Exhibit proficiency in diverse art techniques and mediums, crafting a curriculum that reflects a variety of artistic styles and historical contexts.
- Coordinate and supervise student art exhibitions and actively participate in school events showcasing student creativity.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Fine Arts Department and other academic areas to integrate art into interdisciplinary initiatives and school-wide activities.
- Remain informed about current trends and best practices in art education through ongoing professional development and workshops.
- Work collaboratively with the Fine Arts faculty to foster a supportive and cohesive environment for students.
- Engage in the School's arts community by participating in events that celebrate and promote visual arts.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in art education, fine arts, or a related discipline; a master's degree is preferred.
- Strong foundation in various art techniques with a proven ability to teach advanced levels in drawing, painting, design, and AP 2D Art.
- Exceptional skills in developing and presenting diverse art projects and exhibitions.
- Ability to accommodate students with varying learning styles and abilities, promoting inclusivity and differentiation.
- 3-5 years of teaching experience in a middle school or upper school environment is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of students and colleagues.
