Interventional Radiology Technologist Position for a Medical Traveler

About the JobAs an IR Technologist, you will play a crucial role in assisting interventional radiologists with minimally invasive procedures. You will operate imaging equipment, prepare patients, and maintain a sterile environment to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Salary: $120,000 per year (based on 40 hours per week)
- Shift: 8 hours, days
- Duration: 13 weeks
You will be responsible for:
- Pre-Procedure Preparation:
- Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning.
- Review patient information and medical history to prepare for procedures.
- Verify patient identity, allergies, and consent forms before each procedure.
- Explain the procedure to the patient and address any concerns.
- Assisting During Procedures:
- Operate imaging equipment to guide physicians during procedures.
- Maintain a sterile environment and assist with sterile draping and instrument setup.
- Administer contrast agents as directed by the physician.
- Monitor patient vital signs during procedures and report any changes.
- Patient Safety and Comfort:
- Position patients to obtain optimal images while preventing injury.
- Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff by following radiation safety protocols.
- Monitor patients for signs of complications and report findings to the physician.
- Post-Procedure Care:
- Monitor patients post-procedure for any immediate complications.
- Assist with patient transfer to recovery or another unit.
- Provide post-procedure care instructions to patients.
- Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Regularly maintain and inspect IR equipment to ensure proper function.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions during procedures.
- Keep accurate records of equipment use and maintenance.
- Collaboration with Medical Team:
- Work closely with interventional radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure successful procedures.
- Provide feedback and support to the medical team during procedures.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Accurately document patient information, procedures performed, and imaging parameters.
- Ensure records are completed in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Radiation Safety and Compliance:
- Follow strict radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure.
- Adhere to healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA and infection control measures.
- Professional Development and Training:
- Participate in continuing education and training to remain current with the latest technologies and techniques.
- Mentor and assist in training new IR technologists or students.
