Clinical Research Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Research Nurse to join our team at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. As a Clinical Research Nurse, you will play a critical role in supporting clinical research patients treated at our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a balance between patient care, protocol requirements, and compliance.
- Utilize clinical research nursing expertise to advocate for patients as needed.
- Provide nursing and clinical operations expertise to research teams.
- Partner with clinic nursing and study teams to provide research-specific patient and family education.
- Assist investigators and study teams in pre-screening patients and confirming eligibility.
- Support investigators and study teams in adverse event assessments and documentation.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with clinic nurses for symptom management and clinical follow-up.
- Assist in Serious Adverse Event Reporting.
- Document in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and include research protocol details for data entry and compliance.
- Support investigators and study teams in reviewing and documenting concomitant medications.
- Reconcile protocol-required medication diaries.
- Support research coordinators in protocol-required clinic visits.
- Support Principal Investigators (PIs) in ensuring patient safety and protocol compliance.
- Communicate investigational medication holds/modifications to patients as delegated by PIs.
- Facilitate communication and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams as needed.
- Provide research education to clinical staff as appropriate.
- Inform investigators and study staff of institutional policies and procedures that support protocol compliance, patient safety, and clinical operations efficiencies.
- Identify problems or obstacles in research operations and communicate to the CORS Nurse Manager and study investigators.
- Participate in study-required monitoring visits.
- Baccalaureate degree required.
- Minimum 3 years of recent oncology experience.
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or multistate RN license.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated skills in critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Demonstrated process improvement mindset.
- Ability to work to deadlines and targets.
- Experience in the care of oncology patients.
- Experience with clinical research preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Baccalaureate in nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years research experience preferred.
- Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN), BMTCN, AOCN, AOCNS.
