Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Long Term Care

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Lakewood Continuous Care Center in Lakewood, ME. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the well-being of our residents.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will be responsible for providing direct patient care to residents in our Long Term Care Unit. This includes administering medications, observing and reporting changes in patient conditions, and providing basic patient care and treatments.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer prescribed medications and start intravenous fluids, documenting times and amounts in patients' electronic medical records.
  • Observe patients and report changes in patients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and take necessary action.
  • Answer patients' calls and determine how to assist them.
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration.
  • Provide basic patient care or treatments, such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, rubbing with alcohol, massaging, or performing catheterizations.
  • Maintain a safe environment, complying with NLH policies and procedures, and report and directly address environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
  • May perform other duties upon request.
Requirements:
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Maine.
  • BLS certification to be obtained prior to independently caring for patients and kept current.
  • Graduate from an accredited LPN program or state-determined eligibility.
  • 0 years' experience.
Working Conditions:

This position requires lifting, moving, and loading 30 to 50 pounds. Alternate shift schedules, including day, evening, nights, and weekends, may be required. Prolonged periods of standing and walking are also expected.
