Mechanic II

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanic II to join our Transportation Department at Hoke County Schools. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our school buses and vehicles.

• Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair of school buses and vehicles
• Plan and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with regulations
• Coordinate with vendors to obtain parts and supplies, and manage inventory levels
• Monitor and review maintenance reports and work orders to ensure quality control and compliance with protocols
• Provide guidance and training to departmental personnel on OSHA requirements and best practices
• Collaborate with the Cost Clerk to manage parts procurements and invoice reconciliations

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 10-15 years of experience in repair and preventive maintenance of motor vehicles and repair equipment
• 5 years of supervisory experience, or any combination of training and experience
• Valid NC Class-A Commercial Driver's License with all appropriate endorsements
• Valid certification in NC Motor Vehicle Inspection and NC School Bus Inspection

The Mechanic II position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to weather changes, noise, and job hazards. The successful candidate must be able to lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lie down, as well as use visual acuity for depth perception and color perception.
