We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Orthopedics team at Bay Area Hospital. As a Physician Assistant, you will work closely with our team of surgeons to provide high-quality patient care and support.
Responsibilities:- Perform comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams
- Interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures
- Formulate a treatment plan for Orthopedic problems within scope of practice
- Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate
- Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other healthcare professionals
- Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures and studies
- Perform procedures such as digital blocks, regional anesthesia, and minor outpatient surgical procedures
- Assist in surgery, including first assist, deep and superficial tissue closures, and application of appliances
- Conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and assist the Orthopedic surgeon
- Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients
- Dictate discharge summaries, histories, and physicals
- Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces, and other orthopedic devices as may be allowed by state legislation
- Evaluate, screen, and counsel patients on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources
- Design, conduct, and/or participate in research studies, manage databases, and perform quality assurance
- Proficiency with electronic health records for documentation, assessment, and care management
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, family members, and the healthcare team
- Ability to work independently and perform effectively in stressful and/or emergent situations
- Demonstrates initiative and motivation
- Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary to deal effectively with various levels of Hospital personnel, outside customers, and community groups
- Understanding of anatomy, diagnosis, treatment options, procedures, methods, and equipment
- Ability to complete clinical and surgical responsibilities in a timely fashion
- Analytical ability to monitor data, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medication
- Exercises good judgment, demonstrates effective critical thinking skills
- Flexible, able to prioritize and address multiple responsibilities concurrently
- Works effectively under stress and frequently changing job requirements/situations
- Maintains regular, consistent, and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
- Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
- Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
- Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
- Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
- Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair
- May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
- Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
- Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
- Base salary: $160,000
- Relocation assistance if applicable
