We are seeking a qualified English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher to join our Adult Education team at Monrovia Unified School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching ESL classes to adult students and will be expected to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Teach ESL classes to adult students, utilizing current research-based strategies and curriculum guidelines.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of individual students, including whole group, small group, and individual instruction.
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Administer and score Performance-based Assessments for all students.
- Maintain accurate student records and data, including Performance Assessments.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective communication and coordination of instruction.
- Valid California Teaching Credential that authorizes instruction to Adult Education students in English As A Second Language.
- Previous experience working with adults and teaching ESL classes.
- Ability to work and communicate well with staff.
- Knowledge of TOPsPro and CASAS programs.
- Mental ability to teach the skills and knowledge required to interpret and implement policies, rules and regulations.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to see and read printed matter with or without vision aids.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.
- Manual dexterity to carry out the functions of the above essential responsibilities.
- Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.
- Ability to bend, reach and walk.
