Job Summary:

The Technical Laboratory Assistant - Phlebotomy Specialist demonstrates expertise in performing phlebotomy and various technical and clerical functions in the Laboratory, adhering to established guidelines and principles of human growth and development. This role requires a customer-focused approach, teamwork, adaptability to change, problem-solving, effective communication, and personal excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures, including phlebotomy, specimen processing, and handling of blood, tissue, fecal matter, sputum, urine, spinal fluid, and other body fluids.
  • Ensure specimens are handled and processed according to established protocols, taking into account potential contamination with infectious diseases, including HIV and other blood-borne pathogens.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, including patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with laboratory procedures, technologies, and best practices to ensure high-quality results and efficient operations.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in phlebotomy and/or specimen processing.
  • Active driver's license and personal auto insurance required for associates working in skilled nursing facilities.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Work Environment:

This role is based in the Laboratory, with regular interactions with laboratory staff, patients, and healthcare providers. The work environment is dynamic, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care and laboratory services.
